Department of Marketing and Information Systems

This is the backbone of the Faculty of Business and Accountancy. It possesses highly qualified and dedicated academic staff who emphasise the two main aspects of marketing management:

  • To understand the philosophies or organizational orientation towards marketing concepts and customer satisfaction.
  • The aspect of implementing strategies and marketing activities that would realize those philosophies.

Thus the courses in the field are designed to achieve a comprehensive understanding among students of marketing concepts and theories as well as developing effective marketing strategies. The department offers courses at all levels: undergraduate, masters and doctorates. The teaching methods are moving away from the traditional pedagogy of lecturing and conducting tutorials to group discussions, individual presentation, problem solving and case studies. The future plan is to incorporate problem based learning into the curriculum. The department aims to produce students who are versatile and adaptable to the current business environment, integrated with the industry, analytical in thinking and excellent communicators.
