Entry reguirements :
Passed SPM or equivalent with credit in Malay language (Bahasa Melayu),
and Passed STPM or equivalent with at Grade B (CGPA 3.0) in Biology, and Grade B(CGPA 3.0) in at least 2 of the following
combinations (Chemistry / Physics / Mathematics)or Passed Matriculation Examination with at least Grade B (CGPA 3.0 in Biology,
and Grade B (CGPA 3.0) in at least 2 of the following combinations (Chemistry / Physics / Mathematics) Mode of Study Lectures,
Tutorial, Practical, Seminars, Clinical Dental Practice, Laboratory work, Clinical case studies, Group Projects, Problem-based
learning (PBL), Community posting, Elective Research Project.
Description : This is a five year professional traning program leading to the degree of Bachelor of Dental Surgery.
(brief description of the program) In the first two years students will be exposed to Basic Medical and Dental Sciences (Pre-clinical
years) to prepare them for the subsequent three clinical years.
They would be fit for independent clinical practice upon graduation. Part of the traning program is
conducted in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine University of Malaya.
On completion of the course, graduates would have the necessary knowledge skills and attitudes
to practice general dentistry and eligible to be registered with the Malaysian Dental Concil.
Graduates are also eligible for further specialist traning in dentistry in Malaysia as well as many overseas institutions.
The BDS degree of the University of Malaya was given recognition by the General Dental
Concil of Great Britain to be on par with the best dental school in the world since 1997.
