The Department of Children’s Dentistry and Orthodontics is a combined academic department encompassing the disciplines of Children’s (Paediatric) Dentistry as well as Orthodontics.  It is responsible for the conduct of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in both specialties.  Currently the Department has 9 academic staff and 10 supporting staff.

In the 5-year Bachelor of Dental Surgery programme, teaching in both     Orthodontics and Children’s Dentistry begins in Year 3 through to Year 5.

Postgraduate programmes in Orthodontics and Paediatric Dentistry started with the year 2000 intakes.  Both the Master in Orthodontics and Master in Clinical Dentistry (Child Dental Health) are 4-year programmes; for the latter candidates undergo the first three years at the Faculty and spend their final year with appointed consultants at approved centres under the Oral Health Division, Ministry of Health Malaysia.
