Sports Centre

The Sport Centre was established in 1986. It was the first tertiary institution in Malaysia to offer the Bachelor of Sport Science degree programme. In addition to its academic programme, the Centre also organises sport activities and co-curricular courses, besides being the co-ordinating body for the usage of all sport facilities on campus. Sport Science is the study of sports as a science that deals with an applied body of knowledge that has to do with human physical activity from the biological, physical, pschological, and social science perspectives. The focus is on the identification of the physiological and psychological attributes of an athlete, as well as on the development of these attributes, so that an athlete's optimal performance can be achieved. The practitioner or professional sport scientist must have a deep understanding of the various disciplines associated with sport science to be able to employ the theory and practical components of sport effectively. This can only be acquired and practised through a formal study in colleges and universities.
