PELAKON is the acronym for Pentas Lakon Universiti Malaya (literally means UM's Acting Stage) Founded in 1982, is currently
a very active drama group comprising of students and staff. Founder member Assoc. Prof Said Halim is presently the Chief Advisor.
For the past few years Pelakon has won awards at the national level theatre festival (Pekan Teater Kebangsaan). All of its
performances has managed to be finalists, e.g. "Baju Emas Sang Maharaja" (1999) "Wau Bulan" (2000), "Obsessi"
(2001), "Sang Puteri" (2002). For the last two outings, PELAKON bagged awards for Best Director, Best Technique,
Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor and overall runner-up.
